Pizzaz off the Rail

7'6'' Wood epoxy. This is my first finished board to come out of my vacuum bag. It has wood on the deck and bottom and wood on the rails. Recycled epoxy foam in the core and bio resin. The wood on the rails reacting with the rest of the wood creates fluid momentum. It springs out of turns but smooths out any rough transitions. I am pretty happy with it.

A sharp blade makes a big difference

I will be departing for Maine early next week for the alaia making class at Grain surfboards. See the Grain Surfboards website and older posts on this blog for more info. Extra tools for students must be prepared and shipped. Here I am sharpening blades for block planes.

Translucent Turd

Adam the Bing factory shop manager, keeps getting brown boards. We told him to spice it up with something, pinstripes, anything. He did not do anything. So we brainstormed.. In the end Mike B went back to the shop Taped cut and color glossed this custom emblem. He did it so nice now everyone has been disappointed when Adam has stated he was going to sand it off, so he is stuck with this turd.

New Boards

Is the fish a board of the past, again? It seem the Mini Simmons has taken over the thread of the short wide board design. Brian still wanted a fish...Here is a 5'10'' He brought me a Home Blwn blank from England. It has a corn formula insted of other chemicals.
