Ho-Down Goes Really Well
The handplane ho-down was a really great time.. The waves and conditions were perfect for the event. Everyone was stoked. The atmosphere in the water and land was uplifting. Funny, I would drift down to the peaks where the surfers were you could hear the hoots and hollering from the bodysurfers. The surfers did not have the same sharing attitude and stoke. Anyhow, I would like to thank the Brownfish crew for organizing the event, and hope we can do it again. The paipos were working really good also.

My brother, Tom just sent this vid. Pretty epic. Everyone is shredding. Note, the paipo/handplainer is on a double, triple overhead wave. I think Tom is trying to say, riding different types of more floaty finless boards is good practice for alaia riding. In the end their is nothing like the ride of an alaia.

Check this link out. On May 5th their will be a gathering of handplane makers and enthusiastic bodysurfers in San Clemente. I will be there with a few handplanes/ I think I'll put a couple paipos and alaias in the car also. So, come and try my stuff and other makers also.

Pictures From Nicaragua
Some friends just returned from a surf trip to Nicaragua and sent me some pictures. This is Mike Beckwith setting up for a bowl
after laying down a bottom turn on a 6' Bluegill.
Ryan from Third Coast Surf Shop dropping in on his 6'6'' 2 plus 1, from a couple of posts ago. It is nice to see a fading drop in. You can't really do that on a board that does not have a dominant middle fin, especially at this shorter size.
Ryan again, using one of my handplanes.
