Maine has great waves especially for alaia riding.
This is from 2009. We toured New England with a pile of alaias, but it was Maine that blew our minds.
If you have always wanted to go to Maine here is a great excuse. In September, I will be there doing a class on shaping an alaia. By the end of the class you will have made your own alaia and will be surfing the perfect alaia peelers at the local break.
We were there in 2009 and were blown away by the waves, the landscape, and the friendly vibe.
The classes will be at the Grain Surfboard Factory, a rustic barn setting. The Grain website has more info.
Also, other cool activities will be happening. Cyrus Sutton and the Korduroy.tv crew will be there with movies and giving a handplane making course.
It will end with a bash at the beach with other special guests. Again please see Grain website.
