Recycled foam and bio resin with wood veneer deck Bluegill

This board was made with a Marko recycled foam blank. I glassed it with entropy bio resin. Also we vacuumed bagged a eighth inch wood veneer deck on it. It is 8' long. It floats amazing and catches anything.

Super Green surfboard

Here, the latest green board. 5'10'' Peanut Bluegill. This is a recycled, recyclable blank made by Marko Foam modified with bluegill rails, farm grown wood.

I laminated and finished coated with Entropy bio-resin made organic materials.

This board finished out really light and can be found at Mollusk Surf Shop in Venice Beach.

This is a 6'6'' I made for the guys at Matuse Wetsuits.

Above is a 7'6'' Anchovey destined for the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Touring pros will be signing it and then is to be hung in the clubhouse.
Below is a 7'4'' Bluegill going to Adrien. He is picking it up on his way to Baja, leaving from Northern CA.

Japan, The Present Tour

I rediscovered some pictures from a trip to Japan 2009. We were there to promote alaia riding and to meet and greet the crowds with Thomas Campells "The Present". This picture is a alaia demo set up by Real Surf Shop. This guy could walk no problem. It was the cat who needed the wheel chair.

This morning was not very cold, so I assume these garments are for special ceremonies.
Sacred bamboo forest.

I went to Japan with Matt Williams who was visiting from Australia. He works with Tom there. We met up with Harrison Roach. We did some demos went to the Green Room festival ( a very cool event), and drank a lot of beer. We were the guests and brought around by Mr. Mogi and the rest of the Laid Back Films. In the picture below, we are at the Patagonia store in Tokyo, where their was a showing of the Present. Dan Malloy, Thomas Campell, and John from Mollusk were also there.

7'6'' Bluegill

This is a new 7'6'' I made for myself , and those who would like to try one. I sold my last 7'6'' to a friend who had to have it. The surf has been small and fun, not enough power for me to ride my 6'2'' Bluegill ( I like to ride bigger boards). I had a chance to ride it this morning at Cardiff. It attained high speeds an big slidey turns, very fun. Brett my Friend, who did most the Fleming for the videos on the blog lives in LA, and I live in Encinitas now. So I have a hard time making movies. If anybody in the area would like to do some filming and get a good deal on a board let me know.

My New Years Board

I needed a bigger board here in North County due to the crowds some days. I wanted something I could paddle with against people riding noseriders, but I don't want a noserider right now. I am addicted to speed right now. Speed traveling on waves that is. This is a parabolic stringer blank, not that unlike a Bluegill. That is red foam out on the rails. The board is 8'10''. I did not want a longboard, but a progressive board. It is a wood fibreglass single fin. Single fins work better. The board has a sand finish to keep the weight down and is easier to hold on to.

This blank I have had a while. I picked it up before Walker Foam closed. I Thanked Harold and the Walker team when I shaped this board (to myself) for catalysing the movement to make quality foam. Before he began making foam again in the early 90's Clark foam was pretty crappy. A good board would delaminate in 6 months, ding, fill with water, and the board was ruined. Almost 20 years later foam is much better and I think it is Harold we must thank. The only problem now is boards last much longer and people order less surfboards (and blanks).

The board has a light double concave in the nose and the tail. I put this in to help catch waves, for close tolerance trimming and speed. This board is really fast, and to my surprise it noserides pretty good to.
